Positive material identification is a process used which helps determine the material type being tested. This could be any material but is generally used on metallic components.
A number of forms of PMI exist such as Optical Spectrometry Emission (OES) and Xray Fluorescence (XRF). Both pieces of equipment are mobile and non destructive, so they can be used on production components without causing damage.
A chemical version of material identification can be used to determine the difference between stainless steel grades 304 and 316.
Responsive offer all of the above positive material identification both at our labs and on site, at your facility.
